After months of waiting, OnePlus has finally announced that it will be launching its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 3, on June 15. The launch event will be live streamed in virtual reality and will begin at 7.30AM IST (10AM in China) on June 15.

A couple of weeks ago OnePlus had announced that it will unveil the upcoming smartphone in virtual reality at its newly created virtual space station called ‘The Loop’. The company also announced its Loop VR headset, which it will be offering on Amazon India for Re 1 (shipping charges extra). It’s an app only sale and will take place on June 3 and June 7 at 12PM IST.

OnePlus 3 specifications, features: A lot of details about the new OnePlus flagship smartphone have already leaked online ahead of the official June 15 launch event. The OnePlus 3 with 6GB of RAM was recently spotted on China’s TENAA certification site. It had also recently passed US’ FCC certification.

From what we have learned so far, the OnePlus 3 will sport a 5.5-inch full HD display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. It will also come with 64GB of onboard storage, but there is no word on whether it will be expandable, this around.

In the photography department, a combination of 16-megapixel rear and 8-megpaixel front facing cameras is expected. It is also likely to come with 3,000mAh non-removable battery along with ‘Dash Charge’ feature, which the company recently patented. With connectivity options such as 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS and USB Type-C port, the OnePlus 3 is likely to run on Android Marshmallow based OxygenOS.

From the leaked press renders that we have earlier come across, the OnePlus 3 will ditch the sandstone finish at the back, and will embrace the full metal unibody design. As of now, details on pricing and availability are scarce. With just two weeks to go, it will be interesting to see if OnePlus goes aggressive with specifications and pricing as it did with its earlier smartphones.
