Last week in a Twitter chat, Micromax revealed its plans to launch a sub-Rs 6,000 smartphone exclusively on Snapdeal. The Indian smartphone vendor has now revealed that the smartphone is called the Canvas Spark, and it will launch on April 21. 
 
The company has sent out media invites for a launch event in Delhi on April 21. The invite clearly mentions that the smartphone is called the Micromax Canvas Spark. Its tagline reads, ‘Watch Sparks Fly! #MicromaxCanvasSpark’. 
 
While Micromax has kept things under the wraps, reports claim that the Canvas Spark will feature a 4.7-inch display, MediaTek MT6582 quad-core processor, microSD card slot, dual-SIM, and will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. 
 
As mentioned above, the smartphone will be priced in the sub-Rs 6,000 segment, putting it squarely against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and the Motorola Moto E (2015) among others. 
 
Micromax brought affordable smartphones to India. The company is all set to launch another warrior in this segment in the form of Micromax Canvas Spark (which is the expected name for the smartphone). 
 
The device will be launched on April 21, 2015 at an event in Gurgaon. The company along with its eCommerce partner snapdeal.com has been making a lot of buzz on the social networking sites. It seems like the company will be looking at taking the likes of Xiaomi, Motorola and Lenovo with this smartphone. 
 
As per the previous leaks, it is expected that the Micromax Spark is likely to come with a 4.7-inch screen. It is expected to be powered by a quad-core Media Tek SoC, perhaps the same one that is used in the Android One devices. Micromax Canvas Spark will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Much like the most Micromax devices, this one too will support dual-SIM slots. As of now there is no word on the other specifications of this smartphones and when it will go on sale. 
 
Given the competition in the space, we expect that the Micromax Canvas Spark might come with a 4G connectivity option.
